Morocco Equity Markets | 16 Nov 2015: Morocco Equity Market Resumes in the week in Red … investors lose US$245 million
Casablanca, Morocco, Capital Markets in Africa —On Monday, the equity trading ended in negative both the market indices and market capitalization closed lower. The Moroccan benchmark stock index (measured as MASI Index) sagged by 0.54 percent to close at 9,211.08 points (with a year-to-date performance to -4.25 percent) with total market capitalization at MAD 463.101 billion (a drop of MAD 2.5 billion or US$254 million relative to previous market capitalization of MAD 455.782). The market activity measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 364.575 million.
The Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) ended at 7,510.79 points (fell by 0.55 percent compared to the previous trading session). FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index fell by 0.38 percent to close at 7,840.56 points (-11.11 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index dropped 0.60 percent to end at 7,714.05 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to -4.30 percent).
In term of sector indices, top gainers were Electrical & Electronic Equipment, Leisure & Hotels, and Engineering & Equipment Industrial Goods sector indices added 5.98 percent, 5.97 percent, and 1.21 percent respectively. On the laggards’ side, Holding Companies sector index (sagged by 5.68 percent to close the year-to-date performance at -19.06 percent), Chemicals sector index (lost 3.90 percent to end at -50.34 percent year-to-date return) and Mining sector index (fell by 1.21 percent to end at 17,162.11 levels).
Looking at the market price leaders and laggards, the gainers’ were STROC INDUSTRIE advanced by 5.99 percent to end at MAD 51.32 and NEXANS MAROC grew by 5.98 percent to settle at MAD 147.90. RISMA also gained 5.97 percent or MAD 8.70 with a closing price of MAD154.40 as well as ZELLIDJA S.A climbed by 5.90 percent to end at MAD 162.35. Conversely, CARTIER SAADA and INVOLYS plunged by 8.90 percent (to settle at MAD 18.52) and slipped by 6.00 percent (to trade at MAD 122.20) respectively. M2M Group and DELTA Holding also declined by 5.95 percent (with a closing price of MAD 258.65) and dropped 5.91 percent (to settle at MAD 23.90) respectively.
